Masuman-Dherai Site
Masuman-dherai is located in Gulibagh, beside the main road from Mingawara to Kalam, marking it as one of the significant mounds of the Charbagh region.
Documented by Stein in 1930, the site consists of a large flat mound extending over a broad area. Stein observed clear traces of Gandhara-type masonry and ancient potsherds, indicating Buddhist period occupation. He emphasized the potential archaeological importance of excavating this site to uncover its historical layers. Currently known as Masuman- maira among locals, the site lies in agricultural fields where pottery fragments from various periods can still be found scattered across the surface. The strategic location of the mound suggests that it could have supported a small Buddhist settlement or monastery complex in the broader religious landscape of Swat Valley.

Current Condition
Masuman-dherai's Buddhist-era mound survives largely intact under cultivation, with surface pottery sherds still visible, but remains unexcavated and unprotected. The site is managed by the KP Directorate of Archaeology & Museums, which has failed to conduct excavations or implement conservation measures despite Stein's 1930 recommendation of its high archaeological potential.
