Ranigat is a sprawling Buddhist monastic complex on a rocky hilltop in Buner, its stupas and monastery walls threaded between massive granite boulders with commanding views over the plains below. Part of the wider Gandhara Buddhist heritage of northern Pakistan, it remains far less visited than Takht-i-Bahi despite its scale and dramatic setting.
Why go
Ranigat's dramatic setting, ruins built directly into and around house-sized boulders, sets it apart from the more visited Gandhara sites, though its relative remoteness has kept visitor numbers low.
Best combined with other Gandhara Buddhist sites in a KP heritage itinerary, use Plan a trip to sequence the drive and hilltop walk.
