Gurdwara Malji Sahib Kanganpur
Gurdwara Malji Sahib built on a mound on the outskirts of Kanganpur, district Kasur, Pakistan. When Guru Nanak Dev ji arrived at Kanganpur, then a very small village, the local people did not let him settle and pelted stones at him.
Guru ji blessed them by saying “Vasde Raho” (stay settled) and departed from here to the next village of Manak De Ke. Here the people of this village gave him great honour and love during his stay, but on leaving Guru Ji cursed them, saying ‘Ujjar Jaho’ (be scattered). Bhai Mardana was surprised at this and asked why those who gave you pain, you gave them your blessing of remaining settled, but you cursed those to be scattered who had honoured you. Guru Nanak replied that these people of Kanganpur would spread evil wherever they go, so it is best for them to stay settled here, while the loving people of Manak De Ke will spread virtue and love wherever they go after being scattered. The Gurdwara at Kanganpur stands high on a ‘Tibba’ on the border of the village which has now become a large town, whilst Manak De Ke is a tiny village.
