Adventure Tourism

Pakistan is one of the world's most underrated adventure destinations, home to more 8,000 m peaks than any other country, 7,000+ glaciers, and an unbroken chain of adventure from Cholistan desert dune drives in the south to Gondogoro La at 5,940 m in the north. White-water rivers, paragliding valleys, ski resorts, accessible glaciers, and some of the greatest mountain treks on Earth all sit within a country whose adventure tourism is only beginning to be discovered.

Pakistan hosts the K2 Base Camp and Concordia trek (the 'Throne Room of the Mountain Gods'), the Gondogoro La crossing at 5,940 m, the Snow Lake traverse across the Hispar-Biafo glaciers, and the Hushe Valley circuit past Laila Peak and Charakusa. These are genuinely among the finest trek routes on Earth.

Pakistan has more glaciers than anywhere outside the polar regions, and several are easily accessible. Passu Glacier is a 2-hour walk from the Karakoram Highway. Batura Glacier's snout is reachable from Passu village. Naltar Valley's glacial lakes are a half-day jeep ride from Gilgit. No crampons required for most.

The Charakusa Valley above Hushe is a concentration of untouched granite spires. Gasherbrum IV's Shining Wall is one of mountaineering's last great unsolved problems. The Karakoram offers every tier of climbing from comfortable sport routes to grade VI alpine faces.
