Kaghan, Naran & Babusar

Five days for the Kaghan valley — the most loved alpine corridor in the country, done properly rather than at a weekend sprint. The centrepiece is Lake Saiful Muluk at 3,224 metres, the fairy-tale lake in its glacial bowl beneath Malika Parbat; jeeps run up in season, and the early-morning light is worth the alarm. Around it: the Kunhar river the whole length of the valley, the meadows at Lalazar, and — when open, typically June to September — the crossing of the Babusar Pass at 4,170 metres with its long view back down everything you've driven. Nights at GreenPak Riverfront Naran, on the bank of the Kunhar. Your planner confirms the running order around pass and jeep-track conditions, which is simply how the Kaghan works.
