Kafero Dherai Stupa
Kafero Dherai Stupa, situated between Beshunai and Malakpur, is a significant Kushan- period Buddhist site in the Buner region.
The stupa was likely part of a larger monastic complex, reflecting the expansion of Buddhist religious architecture during the Kushan dynasty (1st–3rd century CE). Its relatively compact dimensions (approx. 190 by 110 meters) suggest a modest yet locally important structure, possibly serving nearby settlements and monks. The stupa would have originally featured a central dome and surrounding votive shrines or relic chambers. The site's location in a culturally rich zone points to its role in the spread of Buddhism through the valley networks. Its construction style and alignment would be consistent with other Buner stupas. The site has not yielded inscriptions or sculptural remains but is archaeologically categorized as Buddhist based on layout and typology.

Current Condition
Kafero Dherai Stupa, a Kushan-era Buddhist monument, survives as a looted and heavily damaged mound, now further threatened by active cultivation and erosion that degrade its original form and archaeological context. The site remains under the negligent oversight of the KP Directorate of Archaeology & Museums, which has failed to conduct excavations, stabilize remaining structures, or prevent farming encroachment, despite its documented role in Buner’s monastic network.
