Nauroze fort is situated at a distance of about 32 km north-east of Kharan town.
Nushki Kharan road passes at a distance of about 1.5 km west of the fort across the Buddo stream. Built by Sardar Nawab Sir Nauroze Khan Nosherwani son of Sardar Mir Azad Khan over hundred years ago the impressive fort stands on the left bank of Buddo stream. It is built in burnt bricks with mud mortar, but its lower portion up to a height of about one meter is constructed in ruble stone masonry for strengthening its basis. The fort wall is about 9.1 m high and 4.5 m thick. It has the only entrance facing south, being 1.9 m wide and 2.4 m high. In east-west direction the fort wall is 24.3 m long, while in north-south direction it is 28 m long when measured from outside. There is a vaulted roofed chamber along the northern wall inside the fort, which is 7.3 m long and 2.8 m wide. It has got arched shaped entrance in the northern wall. It is plastered with mud at the interior.
Why go
The Nosherwanis governed Kharan as a semi-autonomous chiefship on the desert margin between Kalat and the Afghan frontier. Nauroze Khan built this fort over a century ago, in burnt brick laid in mud mortar over a rubble stone base. Its walls stand 9.1 metres high and 4.5 metres thick, with a single entrance facing south and a vaulted chamber running along the north wall inside.
One of the better-preserved chiefship forts of western Balochistan, a building type barely represented in the national heritage record.
measured from outside the fort runs 24.3 metres east to west and 28 metres north to south. There is only one way in, facing south, 1.9 metres wide and 2.4 metres high. Inside, a vaulted chamber of 7.3 by 2.8 metres runs along the northern wall, entered through an arch and plastered in mud within.

Getting there, Kharan district in western Balochistan. Nauroze Fort lies about 32 km north-east of Kharan town, roughly 1.5 km east of the Nushki–Kharan road across the Buddo stream. Jhalawar is about 80 km south-west of the town, reached by unmetalled track in poor condition — a high-clearance vehicle and a local driver are essential.
