Rokhri, near the Indus in Mianwali district, was home to a Buddhist settlement of the early centuries CE. The Department of Archaeology and Museums records the mound as about 100 by 60 metres, scattered with pottery and limestone fragments. Its finest finds travelled long ago to the Lahore Museum, where they can still be seen: stucco heads of the Buddha and of a Bodhisattva, and a painted stucco head of a woman, fine examples of Gandharan modelling far from Gandhara's heartland.
