Beside the Grand Trunk Road at Hattian, in Attock district, is an old brick stepwell. A brick wall carries the fittings for a Persian wheel, and masonry steps lead down to the spring. It dates from the 16th or early 17th century.

History

Stepwells like this served travellers on the Mughal road between Lahore and Peshawar. Saidan Baoli was protected as early as 1922 and is listed today as PB-4.
