Chinji National Park, set up in 1987, covers about 6,095 hectares (15,061 acres) on the Sargodha road near Chinji town in Talagang District, close to the Salt Range and about 130 km south of Islamabad.

About

The land is deeply eroded, sandstone and igneous rock with small deposits of rock salt, cut by torrential streams and ravines draining to the Soan River. The dry scrub supports the Punjab urial, golden jackal, Bengal fox, Indian wolf and Indian pangolin, and birds such as the grey francolin. Winters bring frost; most of the year's rain, about 308 mm of 537 mm, falls in the July–September monsoon.
