Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar), Faisalabad
A British-era clock tower from around 1905, the hub from which eight bazaars radiate through Faisalabad's old colonial core.
The Clock Tower anchors the centre of Faisalabad, built around 1905 when the city was still colonial Lyallpur, a planned agricultural town laid out by the British. Eight bazaars radiate outward from the tower in a pattern often said to echo the Union Jack, each named for a different trade or community. It's less a monument to visit quietly than a place to be in, the centrepiece of one of Punjab's busiest shopping and street-food districts.

A Planned Colonial City
Lyallpur was laid out by the British as a model agricultural town, and the Clock Tower's eight-bazaar radial plan was part of that design, a rare example of colonial urban planning still functioning as the living centre of a major Pakistani city.
Faisalabad Today
Renamed Faisalabad after independence, the city has grown into Pakistan's textile hub, but the old Lyallpur core around the tower still carries the original street pattern, worth a walk for anyone curious about Punjab's agricultural and industrial history.
