Hund
Hund, on the Indus in Swabi, where Alexander crossed in 327 BC and the Hindu Shahis kept their Gandhara capital.
Hund, known in antiquity as Udabhandapura, is a village on the right bank of the Indus in Swabi District, about 15 km upstream of Attock Fort. Alexander the Great crossed the Indus here in 327 BC, and Hund later served as the capital of Gandhara under the Turk Shahi and Hindu Shahi rulers until Mahmud of Ghazni's conquest in the 11th century. The Hund Museum and a memorial column to Alexander's crossing stand at the site.
