Kot Diji Fort
Kot Diji Fort rises on a long hilltop above Khairpur, its crenellated ramparts and bastions stretching along the ridge for nearly a kilometre. Built by the Talpur rulers in the early 19th century, it stands on ground fortified for far longer, the nearby Kot Diji archaeological mound has given its name to an entire pre-Harappan cultural phase, making this one corner of Sindh where two very different chapters of the past sit side by side.
