A hidden ravine of waterfalls and fish-filled pools deep in Khuzdar District, 'chotok' means falling water in Brahui and Balochi, reached only by 4x4 and a rugged hour-long hike.
Moola Chotok is a hidden ravine of waterfalls and rock pools deep in Khuzdar District, about 80 km northeast of Khuzdar town. The name itself describes the place: 'Moola' is the nearest village, and 'chotok' means falling water in the local Brahui and Balochi languages. There is no continuous road to the falls, a 4x4 covers the rough approach, and a scenic hike of around 3 km does the rest.

Getting to the Falls
No continuous paved road reaches Moola Chotok. A 4x4 jeep, hired in Khuzdar, covers the rough track before a roughly 3 km trail, about an hour to ninety minutes on foot, drops down into the ravine itself. Sturdy footwear and water are essential.
The Pools and the Name
'Chotok' simply means falling water in Brahui and Balochi, describing the series of cascades that collect in cool rock pools along the ravine floor. Some pools are stocked with fish that locals catch for sport, and the deeper pools are popular for a swim after the hike in.
Camping Under the Ravine
Moola Chotok is a well-known overnight camping spot, groups pitch tents by the pools, build a bonfire, and wake to sunrise light on the ravine walls. There are no facilities on site, bring everything you need and pack it back out.
Planning tip
When to go, September to November and February to March, autumn and spring, avoiding both summer heat and monsoon flash-flood risk.
Getting there, About 5 hours from Karachi to Khuzdar by road, then a 4x4 jeep for the final rough stretch, followed by a roughly 3 km, 1-1.5 hour hike down into the ravine.
Allow, A full day trip from Khuzdar, or an overnight camp at the pools for a sunrise or sunset in the gorge.
