This beautiful building was constructed by Om Kanhiya Lal in 1934 and vacated this building in 1947 at the time of migration to India.
Currently six families who had migrated from India to Pakistan are occupying this building. It is in good state of preservation.
Why go
Sukkur's older domestic architecture includes a substantial body of pre-partition Hindu houses, many carrying carved woodwork and ornamented balconies. Buildings of this class are among the least documented and most rapidly disappearing parts of Sindh's built heritage.

A handsome house built in 1934 by Om Kanhaiya Lal, who left it in 1947 at the time of migration. It remains in good condition and is occupied today by families who came the other way across the new border.
For a side of Sindh's urban history that is disappearing faster than any other.

Best Time to Visit, November to February. Upper Sindh summers are extreme.
Getting there, Sukkur is on the N-5 and the main railway line, about 470 km north of Karachi. Bakhar island and Rohri sit together on the Indus at the city's edge.
Allow, Two to three hours for the riverside monuments; a half day for Sukkur as a whole.
