Siri Lake
A small highland pond and rest stop on the rough track above Shogran, encountered before the route continues toward Paye Meadows.
Siri Lake is the small highland waterbody and meadow stop on the route climbing from Shogran toward Paye. The familiar phrase “Siri Paye” describes the combined excursion, but Siri and Paye are not one map location: Siri comes first on the track, while Paye is the higher, broader meadow destination beyond it.
Why go
- ✦Small highland pond
- ✦Rest stop above Shogran
- ✦Separate location from Paye Meadows
- ✦Mountain and forest-track scenery
Siri Comes Before Paye
The common joined name is useful for describing the day trip, but poor for mapping. Siri Lake and Paye Meadows now have separate records so directions, photographs, and conditions attach to the correct place.
Expect a Variable Waterbody
Siri is a small mountain pond rather than a large permanent lake. Its appearance changes with snowmelt, rainfall, grazing, and season, so visitors should not expect the same water level throughout the year.
Keep the Track Clear
Use established stopping areas, avoid blocking jeeps on the narrow route, and carry all litter back toward Shogran.
Planning tip
When to go, Late spring to early autumn after the upper track has reopened. Water levels, mud, snow, and visibility vary through the season.
Getting there, Travel from Shogran on the rough upper track by a suitable local jeep, or walk with enough daylight and current route advice. Siri is reached before Paye Meadows.
Allow, Thirty minutes to one hour as a stop, or longer when walking the route rather than driving.
