Shogran
A pine-fringed plateau settlement above Kiwai in the lower Kaghan Valley, serving as the accommodation and transport base for the upper Siri and Paye route.
Shogran is a hill settlement and hotel base on a plateau above Kiwai, with forest, open lawns, and views toward the higher Kaghan ranges. It is the gateway for the rough track toward Siri Lake and Paye Meadows, but those upper stops are separate physical locations rather than alternative names for Shogran.
Why go
- ✦Forested plateau above Kiwai
- ✦Mountain accommodation base
- ✦Views toward the Kaghan ranges
- ✦Gateway to, but separate from, Siri and Paye
The Base Is Not the Excursion
Shogran is the settlement where visitors stay, arrange transport, and begin the upper route. Siri Lake and Paye Meadows sit farther along the mountain track and keep their own coordinates, conditions, and visit guidance.
Check the Climb at Kiwai
Older descriptions of the road should not be treated as permanent guarantees. Ask locally about the current surface, suitable vehicle, snow, rain damage, and return traffic before beginning the climb.
Stay for the Quieter Hours
An overnight allows visitors to experience the plateau before day traffic arrives and creates a safer daylight window for the upper jeep route.
Planning tip
When to go, Late spring to autumn for the easiest access. Winter visits depend on snow clearance, current vehicle advice, and operating accommodation.
Getting there, Leave the main Kaghan road at Kiwai and climb the steep branch road to Shogran. Surface and vehicle requirements can change after rain, snow, or repairs, so confirm conditions at Kiwai before ascending.
Allow, One night gives time for the plateau and an early start toward the upper meadows.
