Sharan Forest
A pine-forest and meadow retreat above Paras in the Kaghan Valley, reached by a steep local jeep track.
Sharan Forest is a quiet wooded plateau reached from Paras in the lower Kaghan Valley. Its pine cover, meadow clearings, camping facilities, and trail access make it a slower alternative to the busier Naran corridor. Sharan is separate from Shogran, Siri Paye, and the wider Kaghan Valley guide.
Why go
- ✦Dense pine forest
- ✦Meadow camping
- ✦Jeep approach from Paras
- ✦Trail access toward Musa ka Musalla
Sharan Is Not Shogran
Both are forested Kaghan retreats, but they sit on different approach roads and serve different trail systems. Separate records prevent visitors from following the wrong turnoff or assuming facilities are shared.
Reserve Before the Jeep Ride
Accommodation and transport capacity are limited compared with the main Kaghan road. Confirm beds or camping arrangements, a return jeep, and meal availability before climbing from Paras.
Protect the Forest Setting
Keep fires controlled where permitted, avoid cutting vegetation, carry litter back to the main valley, and use existing paths to reduce erosion.
Planning tip
When to go, Late spring to early autumn. Snow and rain can close or damage the jeep track outside the main season.
Getting there, Turn off the Kaghan road at Paras and arrange a local jeep for the steep forest track. Confirm the track, accommodation, and return transport before leaving the main road.
Allow, One night for a forest stay; two nights if walking farther toward the surrounding ridges.
