Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Swat's high-summer festival in Kalam, cultural shows, crafts, music, and mountain adventure in the upper valley.
First organized in 2010 by the Pakistan Army and the Swat Hotels Association to help revive tourism after regional militancy in 2007–2009, the Kalam Summer Festival is now run by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Corporation. Held over about a week each July or August, it draws both domestic tourists and the wider Swat community with paragliding, a jeep rally, cycling, canoeing, a handicraft display, and cultural shows featuring Khattak, horse, and Chitrali dance alongside regional music.
Kalam sits among pine forests, rivers, and snow peaks. The festival adds music, dance, and craft to one of Pakistan's most popular summer escapes.
Pair the festival with Mahodand Lake, Ushu forest, and the wider Swat heritage trail for a full mountain itinerary.
