Bhambore
Bhambore (or Bhanbhore) is an ancient city located in Sindh, Pakistan, with a history spanning from the 1st century BCE to the 13th century AD.
It has three distinct archaeological periods: Scytho-Parthian, Buddhist, and early Islamic. The city is believed to be the historical Debal, conquered by Muhammad bin Qasim in 711 AD, although this identification remains debated. Significant ruins include a mosque from 727 AD, one of the earliest in the region, and other buildings from different periods. Bhanbhore was a prosperous port city, strategically positioned at the mouth of the Indus River. It was abandoned when the river shifted its course. In 2004, the site was nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status and is on the tentative list.

Current Condition
Bhanbhore (Banbhore) is a key archaeological site and UNESCO tentative-listed ancient port city near Thatta, Sindh. It hosts an on-site museum established in 1960, and recent excavations are ongoing with international collaboration. The site and its museum are now managed by the Culture Department of the Government of Sindh, having been transferred from federal oversight in 2010.
