Hala itself, on the N-5 about 62 km from Hyderabad, is known for its glazed kashi pottery, woodwork and handwoven cloth, and has long been a centre of the Suhrawardi Sufis, with the shrine of Makhdum Nuh. The shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai at Bhit Shah is about 5 km away.
