Kili Gul Muhammad, Quetta
The prehistoric mound near Quetta whose layers record the first farming villages of the Quetta valley.
Mound No. 1, near the village of Killi Gul Muhammad, lies south of the Quetta–Chaman road about 6.5 km from Quetta. It is about 100 metres long, 55 wide and 7 high. Excavations at Kili Gul Muhammad showed people living here in small villages, keeping animals and farming a little, and over the generations refining their pottery into a distinct culture, at first closely tied to Iran and Turkmenistan and later with a character of its own. Its later periods, with Kechi Beg painted pottery, lead on to the neighbouring site of Damb Sadaat.
