Bab-e-Khyber (Khyber Gate)
The stone gateway at the mouth of the Khyber Pass, just west of Peshawar beside Jamrud Fort, opened in 1963.
The Bab-e-Khyber, the 'Khyber Gate', marks the entrance to the Khyber Pass immediately west of Peshawar, with the historic Jamrud Fort beside it. It was inaugurated by Field Marshal Ayub Khan on 11 June 1963 and is the best-known landmark built in the Khyber since independence; a view of the Khyber Pass appears on Pakistan's ten-rupee note.
