Pir Ghaib Waterfall
A spring-fed cascade in the Bolan Valley named for a Sufi saint's legendary disappearance, its cool pools and palm-shaded pools a favourite roadside stop between Quetta and Sibi.
Pir Ghaib Waterfall drops through the Bolan Valley about 70 km from Quetta, a two-tier cascade of roughly 15 m fed by a mountain spring that keeps running even when the surrounding landscape turns dry and rocky. Its name, 'the invisible saint', comes from local legend: a Sufi named Pir Ghaib and his sister, the revered Bibi Nani, are said to have vanished near here while fleeing pursuers in the early days of Islam in the region.

The Invisible Saint
Local legend holds that Pir Ghaib and his sister Bibi Nani arrived in this part of the Bolan Valley to preach in the early days of Islam, and that Pir Ghaib mysteriously vanished near the falls while evading pursuers, an event that gave the waterfall its name. A small shrine to Bibi Nani stands nearby.
A Bolan Pass Waypoint
The falls sit inside the Bolan Pass corridor, close to the midpoint between Quetta and Sibi, making them a natural stopping point on that historic road rather than a standalone destination.
Visiting Today
Walking tracks and shaded rest areas have been added around the pools in recent years, making the stop easy for families travelling the Bolan road, though facilities remain basic and are best treated as a bonus rather than the main event.
Planning tip
When to go, Spring and autumn, when temperatures are mild; flow varies with the season, so check current conditions before making a special detour.
Getting there, About 70 km, roughly 1.5 hours, from Quetta along the Bolan Pass road, close to the halfway point toward Sibi.
