Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore
Lahore's Roman Catholic cathedral, a red-brick Romanesque–Byzantine church built with Belgian help and consecrated in 1907.
Sacred Heart Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lahore. Bishop Godefroid Pelckmans had it built with Belgian aid and materials, to a Romanesque–Byzantine design by the Antwerp architect Edouard Dobbeleers, and it was consecrated on 19 November 1907, growing out of the long work of the Belgian Capuchins in the region. Pakistan issued a commemorative stamp for its centenary, its stained-glass windows were restored in Belgium, and in 2015 it received the Belgian Heritage Abroad prize.
