Sheranwala Gate
Sheranwala Gate, the Lions' Gate, on the north side of Lahore's Walled City: named after two lions Ranjit Singh kept here; once the Khizri Gate.
Sheranwala Gate is one of the gates on the north side of the Walled City of Lahore. It is said to take its name from two tame lions that Maharaja Ranjit Singh kept here in cages. Before that it was called the Khizri Gate, the ferry gate, after Khizr, the saint of waters, from the days when the Ravi flowed close by.

History
Like most of Lahore's gates it stands on the line of Akbar's city wall, but the present gateway is a British-period rebuilding.
