Brahmanabad (Mansura), Sanghar
Mansura, also known as Brahmanabad, was the capital of the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphates in Sindh from the 8th to 10th centuries.
Founded as a garrison city by the Umayyads, it flourished under the Abbasids, becoming a vibrant metropolis. Mansura was strategically located on the Indus River, and its merchants were involved in trade with Baghdad. It was a center of learning, producing the first Sindhi translation of the Quran and renowned scholars in various fields. The city was sacked by Mahmud of Ghazni in the 11th century, leading to its decline. Mansura's ruins, including a mosque and Buddhist stupa, lie near Shahdadpur, Sindh.

Current Condition
Brahmanabad (Mansura) is a protected archaeological site under the Antiquities Act 1975, managed by the Sindh Directorate General of Antiquities & Archaeology. Ongoing research and preservation efforts are being carried out in coordination with academic institutions. The site includes an archaeological museum and remains open to visitors despite gradual natural deterioration.

Best Time to Visit, November to February, avoiding lower Sindh's hottest weeks from mid-April to late June, when May highs run about 41 °C. The Mansura ruins near Shahdadpur have a museum and are open to visitors.
