Jhukar Mound, Larkana
The archaeological site, located in Larkana District, Sindh, dates to the Proto-Historic period, approximately between 3500 BCE and 1800 BCE.
The site was first investigated in 1928 by N.G. Majumdar, who explored two mounds and discovered pottery and artifacts from several cultures. The lower layers of the site reveal evidence of the Harappan Period, extending into the late Jhukar period, while traces of Indo-Sassanian culture were also found. Majumdar's excavation unearthed a hoard of 259 coins from the Kushan king Vasudeva and his successors. The site is owned by the Federal Government and is protected under The Antiquity Act of 1975, amended in 1992. The findings were published in the Inventory of Cultural Property in the Province of Sindh, Pakistan in 2015, Volume 3.
