Owin Fort, Sudhnoti
A small hilltop fort above the Jhelum River on the Mirpur–Sudhnoti road, with four octagonal bastions and two stone baolis nearby.
Owin Fort crowns a hilltop above the Jhelum River, which flows past its northern side, on the road between Mirpur and Sudhnoti, about 141 km from Islamabad. It is a small, square fortress on a natural platform, with an octagonal bastion at each corner pierced by six arrow slits, and a main gate under a multi-foiled arch on the south. Built of stone in diaper masonry with lime plaster, it was once two storeys high with a water tank inside, and about 200 metres away stand two small sandstone baolis. It dates from the early 19th century.
