Sahri Bahlol, Mardan
An ancient fortified town of the Kushan age on a hillock near Takht-i-Bahi, part of the Takht-i-Bahi and Sahr-i-Bahlol World Heritage Site.
Sahri Bahlol, also written Seri Bahlol or Sahr-i-Bahlol, is a town and archaeological site near Takht-i-Bahi in Mardan district, about 70 km northwest of Peshawar. The present village stands on a hillock enclosed by a well-built stone wall of the Kushan period, the remains of a small ancient fortified town, and statues, coins and jewellery of that age have long been found here. Sir John Marshall excavated the site, and since 1980 it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Buddhist Ruins of Takht-i-Bahi and the neighbouring city remains at Sahr-i-Bahlol.
