Neelum Valley Escape

Five days up the Neelum — the river valley that gives Azad Kashmir its reputation. The road threads a green gorge of river villages: Keran directly across the water from Indian-administered Kashmir, Sharda with its ruined Buddhist university above the banks, and the twin climb to Arang Kel, the meadow village reached by cable car and a walk. The high point, in every sense, is Ratti Gali — an alpine lake at 3,700 metres reached by jeep track and trail in summer (July to September). Green, close, and gentler than the Karakoram valleys, the Neelum is the softest introduction to the Pakistani mountains. Your planner confirms the exact day order with you — the jeep tracks and the lake are seasonal, and the itinerary respects what the valley allows.

Small group, private transport, and time built in to slow down, with local guides who grew up in these valleys.
