Quaid-e-Azam Day
The birthday of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, marked with the change of guard and ceremonies at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
Quaid-e-Azam Day, 25 December, is the birthday of Muhammad Ali Jinnah (1876 to 1948), the founder and first governor-general of Pakistan. It has been commemorated since his lifetime, from 1942, and is a public holiday. The central ceremony is at his mausoleum, the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi, where leaders lay wreaths and the guard of honour changes. The same day is Christmas, which Pakistan's Christians celebrate alongside it.
