Neela Butt
A high viewpoint around 2,000m above Dheer Kot, combining forest scenery with an important place in AJK's history as the site of a gathering held on 23 August 1947.
Only a few kilometres beyond Dheer Kot, Neela Butt climbs into greener and more open mountain country, giving broad views across the surrounding Bagh hills as forests drop away into lower valleys. Neela Butt is also associated in AJK historical narratives with a gathering held here on 23 August 1947, during the political upheaval that preceded the establishment of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. That gives the site a second layer beyond scenery: it is both a viewpoint and a place of regional remembrance.
