Patlian Lake
A remote alpine lake at roughly 3,950m above Neelum Valley, reached via Lawat by rough 4x4 track and a final walk through high summer pasture.
Patlian is the kind of lake that should remain an expedition rather than become a quick roadside stop. High above the main Neelum road, it sits among alpine slopes that remain snowbound for much of the year. The usual approach leaves the Neelum corridor around Lawat and continues upward on rough tracks toward the seasonal base-camp area — exact vehicle drop points change with road conditions, so the final walking distance should never be treated as fixed. In summer, the landscape opens into green pasture, wildflowers, lingering snow, and cold mountain water.

Earn the View
Patlian's altitude is part of the experience and part of the risk; even visitors who arrive largely by vehicle can feel the effects of rapid elevation gain. Move slowly, carry warm and waterproof layers, and do not underestimate weather simply because the valley below is warm.

When to go, June to August is the safest core season; early September may be possible depending on snow and road conditions.
Getting there, Via the Lawat side of Neelum Valley, followed by a rough 4x4 track and short or longer walk depending on current road conditions.
