The Cypress Tomb, or Saruwala Maqbara, in Begumpura, Lahore, holds the grave of Sharf-un-Nisa Begum, sister of Nawab Zakariya Khan, governor of Lahore. Built between 1735 and 1740, it was first her meditation chamber, reached by a wooden ladder so she could read the Quran in private; after her death it became her tomb.
