Fakir Khana is a private museum in the Fakir family's house on Hakimaan Bazaar, near Bhati Gate in the Walled City. The family, who served Maharaja Ranjit Singh as emissaries, opened it to the public in 1901. Its collection of about 21,000 pieces includes gifts from Ranjit Singh, 10,000 manuscripts, miniature paintings, Sikh-era textiles and carved ivory, making it the largest privately owned museum in South Asia.
