Taxali Gate
Taxali Gate, the Walled City gate named after Akbar's royal mint, beside Fort Road Food Street and the shoe bazaar.
Taxali Gate is one of the thirteen gates of the Walled City of Lahore, named after the royal mint (taxal) of Akbar's reign, built between 1575 and 1585. The area is known for Sheikhupurian Bazaar's khussa and Peshawari chappal sellers, the Lahnga Mandi musical-instrument market and its traditional food, and Fort Road Food Street lies within it. Poets and personalities from Shah Hussain to Allama Iqbal and Noor Jehan are linked to the area.
