The Lakshmi Building on M.A. Jinnah Road, Karachi: an Art Deco tower of 1938, the city's tallest building at independence.
The Lakshmi Building stands at the corner of M.A. Jinnah Road and Aiwan-e-Tijarat Road in Mithadar. It was designed in the Art Deco style by the Karachi firm D. H. Daruwala & Co. for the Lakshmi Insurance Company, with red facing bricks brought from Jaipur.

History
Built in 1938 and opened on Christmas Eve that year, it was Karachi's tallest building at independence and until Qamar House overtook it in 1955.
