About
Snow covers the valley for seven to eight months of the year; in summer it turns green and shepherds bring their flocks up. On the way from Astore you pass three small lakes, known in Shina as sarot. The lake is in the area of Choungrah village. The forests around Astore have been heavily logged, so stay on paths and don't cut wood for fires.
