The State Bank of Pakistan Museum & Art Gallery on I. I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi, is the country's first monetary museum, set up in 2004 in the former Imperial Bank of India, a Greco-Roman building of red Jodhpuri sandstone from the 1920s. Its coin galleries run from barter and the seals of the Indus Valley people, through punch-marked coins of the 6th century BC and Indo-Greek issues, to the coinage of the Islamic era and the present day, with original dies and machines from the Pakistan Mint showing how coins are made.
