Pari Lake, Utror
The 'fairy lake': a high glacial lake at about 4,400 m above the Utror valley near Kalam, open only from July to September.
Pari Lake lies at about 4,400 metres in the mountains above the Utror valley near Kalam, in Swat. It is larger and deeper than the other lake near it, and is open only from July to September; its water spills from its open western side down to Kundol Lake in the foothills. Its name, Pari or Khapiro, comes from the belief that it is the home of fairies, who bathe in its pure, cold water. There are in fact two lakes of the same name, sometimes called lake 1 and lake 2.
