Sunehri Mosque
Sunehri Mosque, the 'Golden Mosque' of 1753 in Lahore's Walled City, crowned with gilded domes.
The Sunehri ('Golden') Mosque, also called the Talai Mosque, was built in 1753 in the Walled City of Lahore by Nawab Bukhari Khan, deputy governor under Muhammad Shah, as Mughal power was declining. After Ranjit Singh took Lahore in 1799 the mosque briefly passed out of Muslim use; he later returned it and gave gold for the domes that give it its name.
